Kaylee Jensen Earns Academic All-America Honors
March 02, 2017 | Cowgirl Basketball
IRVING, Texas – One day after being named a first-team All-Big 12 selection, Oklahoma State's Kaylee Jensen was honored for her work in the classroom, picking up second-team Academic All-America honors as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jensen, who is carrying a 3.82 GPA in nutritional sciences/allied health, was joined on the second team by Northern Arizona's Rene Coggins, Kent State's Jordan Korinek and Larissa Lurken as well as Stanford's Erica McCall. She is the first Cowgirl to receive the honor since Danielle Green was named a second-team pick in 2008.
The honor adds to a list of awards Jensen has earned in the classroom this year. Earlier this season, Jensen was named a first-team Academic All-Big 12 pick and was also selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District squad.
On the court, Jensen earned all-league honors after leading the Big 12 in scoring (18.3 ppg), rebounding (10.6 rpg) and double-doubles (16). The junior post player's double-double total is six more than the next-highest total in the league and ranks fourth on the school's single-season list.
Additionally, Jensen ranks eighth among league players with her 1.7 blocks per game and leads the league in both offensive and defensive rebounding.
The Genoa, Neb., native was named the league's player of the week on Nov. 14 and was twice named the College Sports Madness Big 12 Player of the Week. In December, Jensen was named to the Play4Kay Shootout All-Tournament Team in Las Vegas after helping OSU to a runner-up finish.
