Cowgirls Fall At West Virginia, 79-53

MORGANTOWN, W.V. – Oklahoma State's women's basketball team saw its losing streak reach five in a row on Saturday after suffering a 79-53 loss against West Virginia in front of 4,024 fans inside WVU Coliseum.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 13-11 overall and 3-10 in Big 12 play. The Mountaineers improved to 17-8 and 5-8.
OSU shot 50 percent in the first quarter and trailed 14-12 after the opening 10 minutes before WVU caught fire beyond the 3-point arc. In the second period, the Mountaineers drained seven of their 10 3-point attempts and extended to a 39-24 lead at the break.
In the half, WVU hit 9 of its 18 3-point attempts and shot 46 percent from the floor, while the Cowgirls hit 44 percent of their shot attempts. The Mountaineers would go on to hit 17 of their 29 attempts from three.
Junior Mandy Coleman paced the Cowgirls, scoring 10 points in the half en route to a team-high 17 points.
WVU got two quick treys to start the third quarter and pushed the margin over 20 with nine minutes remaining in the quarter. The Cowgirl defense stiffened at the end of the period, holding the Mountaineers scoreless the final 3:30. However, WVU maintained a 58-40 with 10 minutes remaining.
Junior Kaylee Jensen recorded her 13th double-double of the year, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Feb. 15 when they return home to host TCU at 6 p.m.
