Yor Anei Becomes First Signee Of The Boynton Era
November 08, 2017 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head basketball coach Mike Boynton fortified the Cowboy frontcourt with his first signee, Yor Anei.
247Sports.com named Anei, a 6-11 standout, the No. 1 player in the state of Kansas, regardless of position, and the No. 56 power forward in the country after a standout junior season at Shawnee Mission South High School.
"Yor has the ability to change the dynamic of the way we play on the defensive end," Boynton said. "He's a unique shot blocker, in that he can challenge shots all over the floor and that he plays with an unbelievable motor. The best thing that Yor does is that he competes. He's a guy that plays with a sense of pride and a drive to win – it doesn't matter whether he's playing against his brother or a rival team. We welcome his winning drive and winning mentality, and we really look forward to him joining our program."
Listed as a three-star recruit, TopekaHoops.com also listed Anei among the top three players in Kansas. Anei is expected to be a standout for Lee's Summit West High School in 2017-18.
Anei plays his AAU ball for Team Rush under former Cowboy Victor Williams, and chose the Cowboys over offers from Southern Illinois, UAB, Denver, among others.
Boynton and the Cowboys will open the 2017-18 season at home against Pepperdine on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
