Cowboys Fall in Qualifying Rounds at ITA All American Championships

TULSA, Okla.- Oklahoma State men's tennis concluded qualifying play at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships yesterday as Mathieu Scaglia fell in the second round.
Scaglia advanced from the pre-qualifying rounds to face Alex Farvot of Clemson in the first round of qualifying where he defeated Farvot, 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7).
Scaglia then faced Texas' veteran Leo Telles yesterday in the second round where he fell, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
Freshman Cowboy Maxim Tybar also participated in the qualifying round where he was defeated by California's JT Nishimura after splitting the first two sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Tristan Meraut faced Kentucky's Trey Yates in the first round of qualifying where the two battled hard splitting the first two sets, 3-6, 7-6 (4), but Yates was given the victory after Meraut had to retire in the third set, 4-1.
Fellow senior Jurence Mendoza also fell in the first round after a hard fought battle against Noe Khlif of Illinois, 6-7 (7), 6-2, 6-4.
The doubles tandem of Brady Draheim and Mendoza fell in the first round of doubles qualifying on Monday to California's JT Nishimura and Billy Griffith, 6-3, 6-2.
Julian Cash is still slated to play in the main draw this Thursday as the No. 18 national seed.
