Babic, Blanco Advance to ITA Central Region Finals

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team will have a chance for its third all-time sweep of the ITA Central Region Championships on Monday, as senior Vladica Babic advanced to the singles finals and teamed up with junior Sofia Blanco to advance to the doubles finals.
The day started in doubles semifinal action, as Babic and Blanco were matched up with Tatum Rice and Jackie Carr of Arkansas. Moved to a three-set format, the Cowgirl tandem only needed two as it dropped the Razorbacks, 6-3, 6-2. The Pokes will face top-seeded Leolia Jeanjean and Giulia Pairone in the finals on Monday morning.
Babic will face Debbie Vogasari of Kansas in the singles finals after picking up a pair of wins on Sunday. Babic had little trouble with Iowa's Zoe Douglas in the quarterfinals as she took the win, 6-3, 6-3, to advance into the semis. Babic kept rolling in the semifinals as she took the win over third-seeded Jeanjean.
If Babic can win both singles and doubles titles, she will become the second Cowgirl all-time to complete the individual sweep and the first since Viktoriya Lushkova did in 2014.
Junior Katarina Stresnakova fell just short of advancing to the semifinals, as she fell in three sets to Jeanjean. Marina Guinart couldn't come up with the quarterfinal win either, falling 6-1, 6-3 to Martina Okalova.
Doubles action will start Monday at 10 a.m. with singles finals scheduled for 1 p.m.
