Cowboys Find Success in First Day at ITA Central Regional

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- Oklahoma State men's tennis won a collective seven matches between singles and doubles competition during the first day of play at the ITA Central Region Championships on Thursday.

The Cowboys started off the day in at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minnesota with a win from Lefty Theodorou over St. Louis' Charlie Parry, 6-1, 6-3. Artur Dubinski also found success with his, 6-2, 6-2, win over UMKC's Marc Cassasnovas. Mathieu Scaglia took the court later in the day where he defeated Ben Wood of Drake, 6-3, 6-3. Freshman Luke Hammond won his first match of the day in a hard fought battle over Iowa's Joe Tyler, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3.

In doubles, the Cowboy's swept their competition starting with with Scaglia and Draheim's win over Bedlam rivals Davis and Bakishi, 8-2. The tandem of Dubinski and Theodorou also earned an, 8-2 win over Klousia and Grattan-Smith of Nebraska. Lastly, Mendoza and Tybar found success in an, 8-4 win over Cassasnovas and Izadifir from UMKC.

Freshman Brady Draheim fell in his first match to Drake's Ben Clark, 6-2, 6-2. Senior Jurence Mendoza also fell in his first match against Nebraska's Micah Kousia after splitting the first two sets 6-1, 3-6, and falling in the third set, 6-3.
