Weekend Wrap: Cowgirls Post Trio of Sweeps on Opening Weekend

STILLWATER – The fifth-ranked Oklahoma State women's tennis team notched three sweeps in as many matches during their first weekend of the dual season on Friday and Saturday. The Cowgirls dropped Oral Roberts, Louisiana Tech and North Texas to move to 3-0 on the young season.

Quotable – Head Coach Chris Young: "Starting this weekend off and playing three matches in 24 hours was a challenge for our girls mentally and physically, and them being able to bounce back this morning after a long day yesterday was really important. The girls really competed well. We got pushed in some spots, which we needed to have some adversity and to be able to come from behind in some sets and serve out in some big points. The girls did a good job handling that."
Standout Performer: Cowgirl tennis fans got their first look at freshman Lena Ruppert, who made a fantastic first impression in her first dual matches at the Greenwood Tennis Center. In three matches, the German freshman didn't lose a game, winning each, 6-0, 6-0, to put the wraps on a perfect weekend.
"I've never seen a freshman start her first three matches and win them all, 6-0, 6-0, so credit to Lena," Young said. "She's very professional with how she handles everything. She is consistent, and she's going to be a tough out anytime she's in the lineup."

The squad will open the weekend with Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m. If the Cowgirls win, they will face either TCU or Wichita State on Sunday for a chance to compete at the ITA National Indoor Championships for the third-straight year.
