Cowboy Tennis Set to Begin Fall Season

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis team will open its fall season when the Cowboys head to Napa, California to defend their title at the fifth annual Silverado Resort & Spa College Invitational this weekend.
The Cowboys will be represented at the event by Tristan Meraut, Jurence Mendoza, Nathan Roper and Mathieu Scaglia.
Meraut, Mendoza and Roper all made the trip to Napa last season where they helped the Cowboys compile 12 team wins en route to winning the team title in a field that included Tulsa and SMU, both of which finished last season ranked in the top 25 of the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association's team rankings.
For Scaglia, the tournament marks his debut as an OSU tennis player. The Frejus, France native joins the Cowboys after dominating in his home country, where he is ranked as one of the top-10 junior players.
Along with the Cowboys, this year's field includes players from Tulsa, San Francisco, Cal Poly, Buffalo and UNLV.
The tournament will be spread across three days of intense competition. Friday's matchups are slated to begin at 11 a.m. CT with the second round starting on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CT and then the tournament wraps up on Sunday with the final matches beginning at 10 a.m. CT.
OSU enters the event coming off of one of its best seasons in recent memory as the Cowboys compiled 20 dual wins a season ago, 12 of which came against ranked competition including three against top-15 foes. OSU also hosted an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2007 and advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time in eight years.
The Cowboys finished last season at No. 13 in the ITA Rankings and will look to build on that success in the 2016-17 season.
OSU returns its entire lineup this year, which includes the All-American doubles duo of Arjun Kadhe and Julian Cash, who are coming off of one of the most successful doubles seasons in OSU history as the duo compiled 34 wins as a pair last year.
The tandem's success marked the third time Kadhe has been honored as an All-American, which puts him in elite company with Oleksandr Nedovyesov and his former doubles partner Jakob Sude as the only Cowboys to ever earn three All-America honors. This year Kadhe can become the first four-time All-American in Cowboys history and, if he and Cash can replicate last season's success, the Pune, India native has a shot to become OSU's all-time doubles wins leader.
