Evans Selected For Exclusive Nike Academy In LA
July 27, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER โ Oklahoma State point guard Jawun Evans is among 21 college players invited to participate in the 2016 Nike Basketball Academy this week in Los Angeles.
The four-day Nike Basketball Academy allows the best players in the country (both high school and college) to compete against top competition while receiving guidance from the game's biggest stars; LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis to name a few.
As part of the experience, participants will go through a professional basketball combine, off-court workouts, drills, film sessions and 5-on-5 competition.
The 2016 Big 12 Freshman of the Year, Evans led all freshmen in the conference in scoring (12.9 PPG), assists (4.9 apg), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9 A/TO), field goal percentage (47.1), 3-point field goal percentage (47.5) and free throw percentage (83.3).
He recorded a 42-point outing against Oklahoma, which were the most points ever scored in a Bedlam rivalry game, and the second most points ever scored by a Big 12 freshman. In the six games prior to his season-ending injury, Evans averaged 19.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game โ all team highs.
Evans and the Cowboys will open the 2016-17 regular season on Nov. 11 against Campbell at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Season tickets start at just $199 and are on sale now through the OSU Ticket Office by calling 877-ALL-4-OSU.
