Cowgirls Excited to Return Home Against Iowa State
April 07, 2016 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER- After a tough road trip the past week, Oklahoma State looks to use its return home to Stillwater this weekend for a three-game set against Iowa State to get back on track.
After playing five-consecutive games away from Cowgirl Stadium, the Cowgirls are excited to have a chance to return home.
Kacy Freeze said playing in front of the OSU faithful again after the long trip should help the team regain some momentum as the Cowgirls return to conference play after Wednesday's game against Tulsa.
"I think we'll need this weekend to bounce back," Freeze said. "I think playing here is going to help. Just the fans coming out, the support we have here, the feeling we have here, I think it will get us back on track."
Although the past week didn't go as the Cowgirls would hope, one player kept an impressive streak going and now has a chance to break a record that's stood since 2005 in the team's home conference opener.
In Wednesday's game against the Golden Hurricane, Taylor Lynch matched the school record with her 17th-consecutive game with a hit to tie Shanel Scott's school record.
Lynch said that setting the record would be great, but she is more focused on helping the team get wins.
"It's a good feeling, but I always say this, but I try not to think about it," Lynch said. "I just go into every game trying to do what's best for the team and what matters in the end is a team win."
Oklahoma State is set to begin the three-game series with Iowa State on Friday at 7 p.m. That game can be seen on OStateTV's live stream for free. The second game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. with the series set to conclude on Sunday at noon.
