Lynch Ties School Record In Loss To Tulsa
April 06, 2016 | Cowgirl Softball
Tulsa, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State's Taylor Lynch tied the school's hit streak with her 17th-consecutive game with a hit in a 9-0 run-rule loss in five innings to Tulsa on Wednesday night at Collins Family Softball Complex.
She didn't have to wait long for the hit, as she delivered with a single in her first at bat. Lynch, a freshman, tied Shanel Scott's record that was set in 2005 and finished the night one-for-two with a walk.
"It's there and I hear it," Lynch said. "It does cross my mind but at the same time we're going out there trying to get a team win. If I hit the ball I hit the ball, if I don't I don't. It's a thing that if it happens it's great but if not it came a long way so it's still a positive. Of course it's there but I try not to think about it."
Oklahoma State (17-17) ran into a tough match with Tulsa's Caitlin Sill, as she moved to 15-1 on the season while allowing two hits from the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls pitched well in the circle outside of two Tulsa (27-7) home runs, including an early grand slam that would give the Golden Hurricane the momentum they would need to finish the win. Brandi Needham (5-10) was given the loss for the Cowgirls.
"We're at that point right now where the kids are searching," Coach Kenny Gajewski said. "We've got to find a way to get that stop, to get some positive momentum back. I've seen it, so I know it's there. It's just a matter of making it happen."
