Cowgirls Look To Claim Big 12 Tournament Title

The Basics
Oklahoma State's women's tennis squad, ranked No. 15, returns to the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center to host the Big 12 Championship for the first time in school history.
The Cowgirls (21-4; 9-0 Big 12) enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed and will take on Kansas State on Friday at noon.
OSU clinched the regular season title by going undefeated (9-0) in conference play.

In The ITA Rankings
The Cowgirls enter the match ranked No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA rankings.
Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez are ranked as the No. 42 doubles tandem in the country.
Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari are ranked No. 60 in the latest doubles rankings.
Vladica Babic and Katarina Adamovic hold the No. 71 ranking.
Babic is the highest ranked Cowgirl in singles, earning the No. 45 spot. Adamovic is ranked No. 47.
Lushkova checks in at the No. 66 spot in the latest ITA rankings.
Grind Together, Shine Together
Oklahoma State has built one of the best resumes in women's tennis so far this season.
The Cowgirls own 14 wins against teams that have appeared in the Oracle/ITA rankings so far this season through 25 matches.
The Cowgirls also own two wins against Alabama, who was ranked as high as No. 13 in the country. The Cowgirls shutout Kansas State and No. 33 Kansas last weekend.
Welcome To Our House
The Cowgirls have taken advantage of tremendous crowds inside the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center throughout the season.
13 of the 21 Cowgirl wins have come at home and the Pokes have outscored opponents, 105-28, through the first 25 matches of the spring season.
The Pokes have recorded ten shutouts inside the Greenwood Tennis Center this season.
Scouting The Opponent
Kansas State enters Friday's match with a 11-13 overall record and a 1-8 mark in Big 12 play so far this season. The Wildcats earned their first conference win with a 4-2 victory against West Virginia on April 10.
The Cowgirls swept the Wildcats last week, 4-0, to capture the first Big 12 title since 2001.
Chasing History
The current Cowgirl lineup is one of the most successful in school history and multiple Cowgirls are rewriting the record books with each match.
Maria Alvarez currently ranks 5th in career singles wins during the Big 12 era with 76. A trio of juniors are also quickly making Cowgirl history. Carla Tur Mari's 70 wins are good enough for the 8th spot on the career wins list during the Big 12 era, Viktoriya Lushkova's 66 wins are good for the 10th spot and Katarina Adamovic is currently 16th on the career wins list.
Dominant Doubles
The Cowgirls have had one of the most dominant doubles lineups in the country. OSU has won 24 of 25 doubles points so far this season.
All three main Cowgirl duos are ranked in the ITA doubles rankings. Kelsey Laurente and Maria Alvarez, ranked No. 42, leading the charge for the Pokes at the No. 1 position.
Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tur Mari, ranked No. 60, have accounted for 28 doubles victories this season, including a 21-2 record in dual matches.
Katarina Adamovic and Vladica Babic, ranked No. 71, have put together a 26-3 record this season, with 21 wins in spring competition.
Babic Named Player of the Week
Vladica Babic was named Big 12 Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
It's the first player of the week honor for Babic during her Cowgirl career. She and partner Katarina Adamovic earned a doubles victory against Kansas State.
Babic also added two singles victories last weekend. Babic recorded a straight-set victory against Ana Garcia Navas of Kansas State, 6-4, 6-2. The sophomore defeated Smith Hinton of Kansas, 6-4, 6-4.

Big 12 Champs
The Cowgirls secured at least a share of the Big 12 Championship with a win against No. 34 TCU, 4-1, inside the Greenwood Tennis Center on April 17.
The Cowgirls won the title outright the following week with a 4-0 victory against Kansas State in Manhattan. The regular season title is the first for the Cowgirls since 2001. OSU outscored conference opponents 36-5 during Big 12 play.
