STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's basketball team has signed Shakila Small to a National Letter of Intent it was announced today by Cowgirl head coach Jim Littell.
"Shakila is a long, athletic forward that comes from a highly successful program at ASA," Littell said. "Having played alongside four other Division I signees, she has the experience of playing in the NJCAA national tournament and knows how to win."
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Small averaged 10.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game as a sophomore for ASA New York last season. The 6-4 guard appeared in 20 games, making 12 starts, and also averaged 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per contest for the Lady Avengers.
Small helped ASA to a 22-3 mark and its fourth consecutive trip to the NJCAA national tournament as well. The 6-3 forward spent her freshman season at Central Arizona College.
A product of Medgar Evers College Prep in Brooklyn, Small was ranked as the No. 34 player at her position by ESPN HoopGurlz.
