STILLWATER---- Oklahoma State softball's Kacy Freeze went the distance in the circle in a 4-1 win over Arkansas Tuesday at Cowgirl Stadium.Â
Â
Freeze (13-8), a senior from Splendora, Texas, allowed just four hits, two walks and struck out three to help the Cowgirls complete the season-series sweep over the Razorbacks. OSU defeated Arkansas 10-7 in Fayetteville on March 2.
Â
"I think it's good for our team," Freeze said. "Good for our mentality, being back on the winning side. It gives us confidence. Our defense really pulled through today and made some plays that would have been hits in the books. I'm really proud of how we responded coming off a weekend like that. Our team has fight, and we're going to fight till the end."Â
Â
Oklahoma State (23-22 overall, 4-9 Big 12) got on the board first with junior Darcy Taylor's walk with bases loaded that brought home sophomore Vanessa Shippy to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead after one.Â
Â
Arkansas (17-33) responded with a run in the top of the third to tie the game at 1-1.Â
Â
The Cowgirl offense came alive in the bottom of the sixth thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles from freshman Madi Sue Montgomery and junior Kristin Reasnor to give OSU a 3-1 lead. Freshman Taylor Lynch's RBI later in the inning gave Oklahoma State's eventual 4-1 lead it would hold onto in the top of the seventh to secure the win.Â
Â
Oklahoma State had standout performances from Lynch and Taylor at the plate. Lynch finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Taylor finished 1-for-2Â with two RBIs.Â
Â
"I just told myself to stop thinking about it and not worry about the outcome," Lynch said. "It's always process over outcome. I went back to see ball, hit ball, and I don't think I was doing that during the Texas series and now I am so it feels good."Â
Â
The sweep was Oklahoma State's fourth sweep over an opponent this season.Â
Â
"It feels great," Coach Kenny Gajewski said. "We needed that for this team. This team continues to grind and get better. I think we pressed a little bit to start and finally started to settle in at the end."Â

Up Next: Oklahoma State stays out of conference this weekend when it hits the road for Las Vegas to take on UNLV in a three-game series. The teams are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 5 p.m. with the series set to conclude Sunday at 1 p.m.
