STILLWATER – Coming off a win over Arkansas on Tuesday at Cowgirl Stadium, the Oklahoma State softball team now heads west to Las Vegas for a three-game set against UNLV.
The two are scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday set to start at 5 p.m. with the series concluding on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Oklahoma State (23-22) is 9-3 all-time against the Rebels, and has won two of the past three matchups.
The Cowgirls come into the series fresh off a season-series sweep 4-1Â win over Arkansas on Tuesday.
Senior Kacy Freeze (13-8) went the distance in the circle, allowing just four hits while striking out three. Freshman Taylor Lynch led the Cowgirls at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Lynch is one to watch for heading into series for Oklahoma State. The Dallas native set the school's record for consecutive games with a hit with 23 earlier in the season, and currently has the highest batting average for a freshman in program history at .430. The .430 batting average also leads the conference.
Lynch's close friend, sophomore Vanessa Shippy, is another to keep an eye on. The Idaho native is on her third position of the season, after starting the season at second before moving to centerfield. Now at catcher, she is still excelling at the plate in the leadoff position. She is third in the conference with her .410 batting average, and is first in runs scored with 44.
