STILLWATER – Men's golfer Jordan Niebrugge and equestrian's Justine Peters took the top honors at Oklahoma State athletics' academic awards banquet Monday, with the two recognized as OSU's scholar-athletes of the year. The scholar-athlete Award is presented to both a male and female student-athlete who has been exemplary in the classroom, in the community and on the court or field of play.
Also honored as part of the evening's events were the 88 seniors who earned their degree and 20 student-athletes who were recognized for having a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, including four who have maintained that mark through four years of college – equestrian's Peters, Brenna Brawner and Amy White and spirit group member Jonah Lund.
Soccer's Niki McKnight and baseball's Remey Reed were presented with the Nate Fleming Award, which is presented each year to the male and female student-athletes who have overcome personal struggles in their lives by hard work, determination and effort, to excel not only in their sports but in the classroom and in life.
