Rested Cowgirls Ready For Texas A&M
April 14, 2016 | Cowgirl Equestrian
Meet Notes: Texas A&M
WACO, Tex. – Fourth-seeded Oklahoma State Equestrian is set to take on Texas A&M Friday morning at the NCEA National Championship Quarterfinals inside the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas.
Â
The Cowgirls, who have a first round bye in the tournament, have made the most of the day off, as they prepare to face off with the fifth-seeded Aggies.
Â
"Having a bye has really allowed us to watch the other horses and get the feel for the arena," Cowgirl senior Justine Peters said. "We are able to look where we are able to set up our patterns correctly and watch the style of the horses and what the judges are looking for."
Â
Texas A&M defeated Fresno State earlier today, 14-2. The win marked the Aggies' first in their previous five meets.
Â
The Cowgirls are looking to ride the momentum of a two-meet winning streak and a Big 12 title. With NCEA All-American's Ebba Lange and Jorden Davis, as well as Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Year, Ty Paris, the Cowgirls know they have what it takes to lift the NCEA National Championship trophy on Saturday night.
Â
"It's a huge honor for us to not only excel as a team, but to also have individuals who stand out," Peters said. "I'm very proud of them and they're so well-deserved. It makes everybody motivated that much more. We can all do this because we have some really phenomenal riders."
Â
Here are some quick this on tomorrow's meet:
