Pair Of Cowgirls In Contention After First Round Of Rucker Invite

Round 1 Results
HILTON HEAD ISLAND – S.C. - Oklahoma State Cowgirl golfers Linnea Johansson and Maddie McCrary ended the day in the top 10 after the opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
Johansson shot a 1-under 70 to end the round tied for fifth and continues her great spring play. The redshirt junior is in contention for a second straight top ten finish. McCrary shot even par to finish tied for ninth. Like Johansson, McCrary is also eyeing a second straight top ten finish, after placing fourth at the Bruin Wave Invitational.
The pair had three birdies each during the round, making half of the team's 12 birdies on the day.
As a team, the Cowgirls shot 8-over and head into the clubhouse in sole possession of sixth place, ahead of three of the top five teams in the country.
Alabama leads the field after round one at 6-under and there is a three way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard, with the Tide's Cheyenne Knight and Virginia's Alexandra Farnsworth and Lauren Coughlin all tied at 4-under rounds of 67.
Emma Broze sits tied for 45th after a 4-over 75 as she competes in her second spring tournament.
Chih-Min Chen shot a 5-over 76 and is tied for 50th and Kenzie Neisen shot a 6-over 77 and is tied for 67th.
Tee times for tomorrow begin at 8:30 a.m.
