Cowgirls Set For Big 12 Championship Weekend
March 23, 2016 | Cowgirl Equestrian
Meet Notes: Big 12 Championship: TCU
STILLWATER -- Two days away from competing for the program's fifth Big 12 Conference championship, the fifth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowgirls are excited for the task at hand.
Â
"I'm excited for Big 12's because we've been working extremely hard this year, and we've really come together as a team and I can't wait to see it all pay off," said OSU sophomore Elizabeth Collins.
Â
This year's championship is particularly special for the Cowgirls, as it will be held at their home arena in Stillwater.
Â
This is the third time that Oklahoma State has hosted the Big 12 Championship, winning the conference title the first two times (2009, 2013).
Â
The Cowgirls finished the regular season in a tie with Baylor for first place, with both schools having a 5-1 conference record. Oklahoma State, however, will be the No. 2 seed this weekend, and will open against third-seeded TCU.
Â
OSU has defeated TCU twice already this season, winning 12-8 in both Stillwater and Springtown, Texas.
Â
For the Cowgirls, senior Ty Paris is on fire, having taken home Most Outstanding Performer honors in her last two matches by posting scores of 76.5 in Horsemanship.
Â
Carly Barrick and Jorden Davis are also coming off stellar performances against No. 1 Auburn, posting scores of 96 and 95 in Equitation on the Flat, respectively.
Â
Competition kicks off at 10 a.m. on Friday at Totusek Arena, with two meets running simultaneously in the indoor and outdoor arenas.
