Cowboys Hop Back Into Top Five
March 22, 2016 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis squad jumped back into the top five for the third time this spring in the new Oracle/ITA Rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
The climb in the polls comes after a dominant showing in Malibu, California where the Cowboys got their 10th victory against a ranked opponent with a shutout win over No. 71 Pepperdine. Also, the victory over the Waves extended the OSU win streak to 11, which is its longest since 2007.
Another set of singles and doubles rankings was released as well, with Cowboy Julian Cash jumping up a spot to No. 48 in singles. Two-time All-American Arjun Kadhe checks in the singles poll at No. 121, while Temur Ismailov enters the rankings for the second time this season at No. 118.
In doubles, the All-American duo Kadhe/Cash stays at No. 9 in the latest rankings, which is the 11th consecutive week they have been inside the top 15. Pokes Lucas Gerch/Temur Ismailov make their second appearance in the doubles poll as they sit at No. 71.
All six teams in the Big 12 remained in the top 30. Three teams from the conference (TCU, OSU and Texas Tech) hold a spot in the top 10.
The Cowboys will host No. 36 SMU and Oral Roberts this Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. The action gets started at noon against the Mustangs, followed with the Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. CT.
