Surging Cowgirls Seek Fifth Thompson Invite Title In Hawaii
March 21, 2016 | Cowgirl Golf
KANE'OHE, Hawaii – Playing their best golf of the season, the No. 10 Oklahoma State Cowgirls head to the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course in Hawaii to defend their title at the 31st annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational.
The Cowgirls are four-time winners of the Thompson Invite, but none was more impressive than last season's eight-stroke victory. OSU finished as the only team in the field under par on its way to the win, while three OSU golfers – Linnea Johansson, Kenzie Neisen and Emma Broze – all tied for second place at 2-under 214. The Cowgirls also won the Thompson Invite in 1998, 2001 and 2008.
That same trio, along with sophomore Maddie McCrary, has helped OSU notch three straight top-four finishes in 2015. McCrary is 5-under par over her last 15 rounds, including a second place finish at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in her last outing.
The Thompson Invitational will tee off at 1 p.m. Central and you can follow all the action at Golfstat.com.
