February 23, 2016 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's men's tennis squad jumped six spots in the latest ITA Rankings to No. 9, which marks the first time the Pokes have been inside the top 10 since April 2007.
Receiving the No. 9 ranking makes the 2015 Oklahoma State men's tennis squad the second highest ranked-team ever in Cowboy Tennis history. The 2007 Cowboy Tennis squad peaked as high as No. 7 in the polls.
With their thrilling 4-3 win over Georgia State on Friday, the Cowboy Tennis squad is tied for the best 10 match start in Cowboy Tennis history as they sit at 9-1 on the year and 6-0 at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The Pokes continue to rise in the polls as they have leaped forward in the rankings four-consecutive weeks and have appeared in the top 30 since the start of the season.
The Big 12 Conference remains to be the best men's tennis conference in the nation with four teams making their way into the top 10: No. 6 Texas Tech, No. 8 TCU, No. 9 Oklahoma State, No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 26 Texas and No. 34 Baylor.
A new poll featuring singles and doubles rankings was also released on Tuesday and the Cowboys continue to have a good representation in the polls.
Sophomores Julian Cash and Jurence Mendoza check in at No. 75 and No. 91 this week, as Arjun Kadhe and Temur Ismailov don't sit too far behind them at No. 109 and No. 115.
In doubles, All-American Cowboy duo Kadhe/Cash stay in the top 20 at No. 15 in the latest doubles rankings.
Next up for the Cowboys is the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Alabama, which begins on Friday.
