Brock Named Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week
December 05, 2016 | Cowboy Wrestling
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State 133-pounder Kaid Brock has been named Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. The honor marks the second Big 12 weekly award of Brock's career.
Â
Brock went a perfect 2-0 in OSU dual victories over No. 16 Oklahoma and No. 21 Pittsburgh last weekend. The redshirt freshman dropped eighth-ranked Dom Forys of Pittsburgh in a 10-3 decision Sunday afternoon to follow up a 10-7 victory over Oklahoma's Trae Blackwell on Friday.
Â
Currently ranked No. 6 in the nation at 133 pounds, the Stillwater native has been impressive this season with a 7-0 record and a 4-0 mark in duals. Brock's win over Forys Sunday moved him to 4-1 over ranked opponents for his career.
Â
Brock's recognition makes it three consecutive weeks that a Cowboy has earned a weekly conference honor after senior heavyweight Austin Schafer and junior 174-pounder Jacobe Smith garnered accolades the last two weeks.
Â
Proving worthy of its top ranking, Oklahoma State has been dominant in its first four duals of the season, taking each by 30 points or more. Sunday's 39-point triumph was the highest point differential in a win for OSU since last season's 41-0 drubbing of Stanford in Stillwater on Feb. 14.
Â
The Cowboys will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 16 when they play host to No. 8 Cornell at Gallagher-Iba Arena at 7 p.m.
