Evans Earns First Career Big 12 Player of the Week Award

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State guard Jawun Evans was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week after racking up 20.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game in the win over Rogers State and on the road at No. 22 Maryland.
The Naismith Trophy and Cousy Award watch list selection is the nation's only player ranked in the top six in both scoring and steals, and posted his fifth 20-point outing of the season against Rogers State, finishing the night with 25 points, four assists and five steals.
At Maryland, Evans tallied 16 points, five assists and a pair of steals. He hit the potential game-winning jumper, but a review showed that it came fractions of a second after the final buzzer.
This is the first career Big 12 Player of the Week award for Evans, who was a three-time Newcomer of the Week selection last season. Evans shared the weekly award with Manu Lecomte of Baylor for helping the Bears take down Xavier and Sam Houston State.
Evans is OSU's first Big 12 Player of the Week winner since Le'Bryan Nash on February 16, 2016. Overall, this is the 25th Big 12 Player of the Week award for the Cowboys since the conference was founded.
The Cowboys are taking a few days of for finals week, but will return to action on Saturday at Tulsa. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
