STILLWATER – Leyton Hammonds scored 17 points and had 7 rebounds in Oklahoma State's 92-75 loss to No. 11 West Virginia on Friday in front of a sellout crowd in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Phil Forte, III, who lead in scoring for the Cowboys, added 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Jawun Evans recorded his first career double-double with 15 points and 11 assists for OSU.
The Cowboys opened up conference play under new head coach Brad Underwood. While OSU got on board first, the Cowboys couldn't recover after the Mountaineers went on a 12-0 run halfway through the first half.
Daxter Miles Jr. scored 22 points and Jevon Carter had 15 points and six assists for the Mountaineers.
Before tonight's game the Cowboys had forced every opponent to commit at least 15 turnovers, but the Mountaineers turned the ball over just 12 times.
The Cowboys move to 10-3 on the season and face two road tests next week against Texas and Baylor.
