COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Jeffrey Carroll finished with 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in Oklahoma State's 71-70 loss to Maryland at the XFINITY Center on Saturday.
Jawun Evans led the team in points with 16 and five assists. Phil Forte, III, also added 14 points for the Cowboys.Â
Oklahoma State faced their first true road test under head coach Brad Underwood. The Cowboys led by as much as 12 points in the game, but a 13-0 run by Maryland gave them their first lead with 6:27 left in the game. Melo Trimble hit the game winning free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining.
The Cowboys forced the Terrapins to 18 turnovers. OSU entered Saturday's game ranked third in the country in turnovers forced at 20.71 per game, and have forced every opponent this year to commit at least 15 turnovers.
Maryland's Trimble scored 13 points, and Jaylen Brantley and Damonte Dodd both added 12 points as the Terrapins (8-1) rallied from a 12-point deficit to defeat the Cowboys.
The Cowboys are now 6-2 on the season and face two more key nonconference road tests this month at Tulsa and Wichita State.
