TAMUCC Postgame Notes
December 22, 2016 | Cowboy Basketball
- Mitchell Solomon piled up nine offensive boards - just one off the school record - and a career-high 14 total rebounds against the Islanders. The 14 rebounds are tied for the fourth-most by an OSU player off the bench, and are the most by a Cowboy since Marshall Moses had 15 boards against Rhode Island in 2010.
- Phil Forte connected on 5-of-10 shot from 3-point, which are the most he's had in a game since hitting six against Kansas State as a sophomore. It brings him to within 28 of the Oklahoma State career record. Forte has 271 career 3-pointers to his credit.
- Thomas Dziagwa continued his hot-shooting streak from downtown. The freshman was 3-of-7 from 3-point, which brings him to 13-of-23 over the last four games.
- Forte was 2-of-2 from the free throw line today. The senior leads the nation in free throw percentage with a clip of 97.8 percent. Forte made his last 22 attempts.
- Brad Underwood earned his 99th career victory and upped his career win percentage to 86.1 - tops among all active Division I coaches. With just 16 career losses, Underwood has a chance to reach his 100th victory faster than any coaches since Missouri's Doc Meanwell in 1918 (100-9) and Buck Freeman of St. John's in 1932 (100-10).
- The announced attendance of 8,342 was OSU largest of the season.
- The Cowboys have forced every opponent to commit at least 15 turnovers, and have racked up at least seven steals in every game.
- In his most extensive action of the season, Davon Dillard scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds - both career highs.
- Jeffrey Carroll has reached double-figures in scoring in all but one game this season, and he scored eight points in that game.
- The Cowboys are now 6-0 at home this season, and are now 10-2 overall. The last time OSU reached 10 wins fast than 12 games was in 2013-14, when they started the year 10-1.
- The Cowboys are now 10-0 all-time against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and 56-8 against teams from the Southland Conference.
- OSU already owns a stellar mark inside GIA, especially against non-conference foes. Today's win improved OSU to 416-52 (.889) all-time inside Gallagher-Iba Arena against non-conference opponents, including a 203-7 (.967) mark since 1989.
