Draws Announced For ITA Central Region Championships

STILLWATER – Both the singles and doubles draws for the ITA Men's Central Region Championships were unveiled Wednesday evening. Oklahoma State is hosting the event this year, marking the first time the Cowboys have hosted the tournament under head coach Jay Udwadia.
Tomorrow's opening day of play will feature two rounds of doubles action and one round of singles play. OSU will field eight singles competitors and four doubles tandems in the tournament, including the top-seeded duo of Julian Cash and Arjun Kadhe.
Cash and Kadhe enter the event as the nation's No. 1-ranked doubles team and are coming off an appearance in the back draw finals of the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships. The Cowboy tandem has already knocked off three ranked opponents this season, including a victory over the nation's No. 13-ranked duo.
Joining the nation's No. 1 doubles duo will be another ranked pair of Cowboys - Lucas Gerch and Jurence Mendoza. Gerch and Mendoza currently hold the No. 52 spot in the ITA Rankings. The final two OSU tandems to take part in this week's competition will consist of Lukas Finzelberg and Mathieu Scaglia, as well as Nathan Roper and Tristan Meraut.
All four OSU doubles tandems received a first-round bye and will not compete until tomorrow afternoon in the second round of doubles play.
All eight of the Cowboys competing in doubles will also take part in singles competition, with six of them earning first-round byes. The only two Cowboys that will compete in singles play tomorrow are Scaglia and Roper.
Scaglia is set to square off with South Dakota State's Gustavo Almeida at 1 p.m. while Roper goes head-to-head with UMKC's Mike Psarros at 2:30 p.m.
The ITA Central Region Championships are slated to begin tomorrow morning at the Greenwood Tennis Center, marking the first time that OSU will compete on its home courts this season.
