Bedlam Performance Earns Evans Second Weekly Big 12 Award

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State freshman point guard Jawun Evans earned his second Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award of the season, the league announced Monday.
Evans turned in a historic scoring performance in the Bedlam matchup versus Oklahoma, finishing with 42 points - the third-best scoring game in school history. It was the highest point total by a Cowboy freshman and the second-most in the Big 12 freshman record book.
Only five players in the nation and just two freshmen have scored more points in a game this season and his 18 field goals were an NCAA-best.
He followed that performance by approaching a triple-double against Texas, recording 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Evans averaged a league-best 27.0 points last week, shooting 50 percent from the field with 6.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. He is averaging a team-best 17.6 points in conference play.
Evans was also named the league's Newcomer of the Week on Dec. 21. Cowboy senior forward Chris Olivier also earned the league's Newcomer of the Week award on Nov. 23.
