The Basics
• After a Bedlam performance for the ages, Oklahoma State (9-7 overall; 1-3 Big 12) travels to Austin to take on the Texas Longhorns (10-6, 2-2 Big 12). The Cowboys took both meetings against Texas last season, and have won six of the last seven overall.
On the Air
• ESPN2 will have all the action between the Cowboys and Longhorns starting Saturday at 5 p.m. Central. Mark Neely and former Cowboy Bryndon Manzer will have the call. Texas Snapshot
• Preseason All-Big 12 selection Isaiah Taylor leads the Longhorn attack with 17.1 points per game, which ranks third in the Big 12, on 46.6 percent shooting. The junior also ranks fourth in the league with 4.9 assists per game. In Big 12 play, Taylor trails only Oklahoma's Buddy Hield in scoring at 23.3 points per conference game.
• Shaka Smart took the reigns of the Texas program last April after a successful six-year stay at Virginia Commonwealth. His 163 wins at VCU tied him for the second-highest number of total victories during the first six years of a head coaching career in NCAA history, and VCU and Duke are the only two programs in the country to have posted at least 26 wins in each of the past six seasons. He led the Rams to five NCAA Tournaments, including a magical trip to the 2011 Final Four.
• On Tuesday, Texas held off a hard-charging Iowa State team in regulation to pull off a 94-91 overtime win over the No. 17/18 Cyclones in Austin. Isaiah Taylor scored a game-high 28 points and posted six assists in the win. ISU shot 67.7 percent in the second half thanks to Georges Niang, who scored 19 in the frame and finished with 27 points. UT's Javan Felix scored the opening points of the overtime frame and the Longhorns never looked back.
Inside the OSU vs Texas Series
• The Cowboys have won six of the last seven games against the Longhorns, including two of the last three in Austin. OSU swept the season series in 2015, the second sweep in three seasons for the Cowboys over UT.
• Texas owns a slight lead in the overall series, 46-41, including a 27-13 edge in Austin. This will be the first meeting since 2012 in which neither team is ranked.
• One of the longest games in school history came against the Longhorns in Stillwater in 2007 - a 105-103 triple overtime victory for OSU. The 105 points are still the most scored by the Cowboys in a Big 12 game, and the 34 points scored in the extra frames are the most scored by OSU in overtime. Overall it still ranks as the 20th highest scoring game in OSU history.
• Keiton Page, still a member of the OSU staff, owns the best game against the Longhorns in school history. On Feb. 18, 2012, the senior dropped 40 points on UT, which stood as the fifth best scoring performance in school history until Jawun Evans' 42-point outburst against Oklahoma. That night, OSU scored 90 points on 41 field goal attempts, a rate of 2.2 points per field goal attempt - still the seventh best mark in school history.
• OSU walk-on Codey McElroy actually played baseball at Texas in 2013 (sophomore season). He played in 18 games for the Longhorns and started 16 with a .978 fielding percentage, and was actually named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. McElroy played the 2014 baseball season at Cameron Univ. before being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2014.

• Most points by a freshman in Oklahoma State history (previous record was 29 by Cezar Guerrero, James Anderson and Byron Houston).
• Most points by any OSU player against Oklahoma (previous record was 37 by James Anderson in 2009 and Leroy Combs in 1981) .
• Tied for the third best scoring performance in program history, and are the most points since Randy Rutherford tallied 45 points at Kansas in 1995. The school record is 58 held by the legendary Bob Kurland against St. Louis in 1946.
• The 42 points are the second most ever by a Big 12 freshman behind only K-State's Michael Beasley, who had 44 at Baylor in 2007-08. It's also the ninth best scoring performance in Big 12 history regardless of classification.
• Evans tallied 18 field goals, which are the second most in OSU history. Only Bob Kurland, who racked up 25 field goals in his 58-point game against St. Louis in 1946, had more in OSU history.
• Only five players in the nation, and only two freshman, have scored more points in a game this season, and no other player this year has racked up 18 field goals.
• Only twice since 2000-01 has an OSU player followed up a game of 30 or more points with a 20-point performance in Big 12 play: Keiton Page in 2012 (40 vs. Texas, 29 at OU) and James Anderson in 2009 (35 at Texas, 27 vs. Iowa State). Page's 69 points in those two games are the most scored by an OSU player in consecutive games in that time span.
• Evans, the highest scoring freshman in the Big 12 at 12.4 points per game, also ranks fifth in the Big 12 with 4.75 assists per game - fourth among all freshmen nationwide. At 4.1 rebounds per game, Evans is also second in rebounding among Big 12 point guards behind only K-State's Justin Edwards (5.8 RPG).
• The Cowboys field a solid defensive unit that ranks second in the Big 12 in scoring defense at 65.0 points per game. OSU is holding its opponents to 39.1 percent shooting, which ranks third in the league and 30th in the country. The Cowboys defense starts at the rim, where they rank third in the Big 12 and 45th in the NCAA with 5.1 blocked shots per game. The Cowboys have held their Big 12 opponents to 69.5 points, which leads the league.
• Senior Phil Forte injured his elbow in the first half of the win over Towson, which snapped his streak of consecutive games played at 102. The senior hadn't missed a single game in his career up to that point. Forte was a Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honoree, and needs just 55 three-pointers to tie Keiton Page (2008-12) for the school record. At the time, he ranked third in the Big 12 in career scoring and third in the country in career 3-pointers.
• Even counting the injured Forte, OSU fields one of the least experienced lineups in the country. In the Big 12, only Kansas State (1.52 years per player) and TCU (1.46) have fewer years of Division I experience than the Cowboys (1.59), who rank 225th in the country in the category.
• Head coach Travis Ford coached his 250th game at Oklahoma State on Wednesday, and ranks third in school history in both total wins (152) and win percentage (60.8 percent). Ford ranks behind only Eddie Sutton and Mr. Henry Iba in both categories.
