Cowgirl Softball Opens Fall Season in Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Oklahoma State softball team will kick off its 2015 fall exhibition schedule on Friday with a ten-inning battle against Cowley College, set to begin at 6 p.m. at Cowgirl Stadium. Admission is free for all fans

The matchup marks the first of an eight-game fall slate for the Cowgirls, with six contests scheduled to be played in Stillwater.
The 2015-16 Cowgirl softball squad boasts a group of six seniors, including Shianne Hughes (outfield), Michaela Patton (utility), Dre McKee (catcher), Tiffany Mikkelson (third base), Danielle Riddle (first base/designated hitter) and Kacy Freeze, a transfer pitcher who joins the team after spending the last two seasons at UTSA.
Overall, Oklahoma State returns 14 players from the 2014-15 campaign, a set that includes the pitching trio of Brandi Needham, Whitney Whitehorn and Jessi Haffner. Also returning to the Cowgirls are sophomores Vanessa Shippy (second base) and Randee O'Donnell (shortstop), who both earned spots on last season's All-Big 12 Freshman Team.
Friday's fall opener also gives fans their first chance to see Oklahoma State's six newcomers, including four incoming freshman and Kristen Reasnor, a power-hitting transfer from Connors State.
The start of fall ball will also mark the debut of the Cowgirls' overhauled coaching staff, highlighted by head coach Kenny Gajewski. Assistants Stacie Pestrak and Charlotte Morgan begin their first season with the squad, while Mike Viramontez joins the staff as a volunteer assistant coach.
