September 13, 2015 | Cowgirl Soccer
SPOKANE, Wash. – Oklahoma State snapped a three-game losing streak Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Gonzaga at Luger Field.
Â
Haley Woodard and Christina Jean-Charles netted goals for the Cowgirls, while Michela Ongaro recorded three saves to collect the shutout as OSU improved to 3-4-0 on the season.
Â
OSU outshot the Bulldogs by a 16-11 margin and owned a 7-2 edge on corner kicks.
Â
"It feels great to win," said OSU head coach Colin Carmichael. "This group has worked really hard, and it's been coming. We kind of put it all together today."
Â
Woodard put the Cowgirls on the scoreboard in the 39th minute with her second collegiate goal. The freshman outraced a GU defender to a ball in the box and delivered a low shot just inside the near post to give OSU the 1-0 lead.
Â
OSU doubled its lead early in the second half. In the 50th minute, Jean-Charles connected on a corner kick that bent into the back of the net when GU goalie Christie Tombari couldn't get a hand on it. The goal marked the first of Jean-Charles' Cowgirl career.
Â
OSU returns to action Friday when it hosts nationally ranked Arizona State at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.
