Cowboy Duos Sweep In Day Two Of Silverado Invitational

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State duos Lukas Finzelberg/Jurence Mendoza and Tristan Meraut/Nathan Roper won their first doubles matches of the fall season on Saturday at the Silverado Invitational in Napa, California.
Roper and Meraut made quick work of SMU's Nate Lammons and Arkadijs Slobadkins with an 8-4 win on court six.
On court five, Finzelberg and Mendoza defeated Mustang twins Nate and Hunter Johnson 8-6, respectively.
Each Cowboy also competed in singles, with Meruat and Mendoza claiming victories against Slobodkins and H. Johnson.
Roper battled Mustang Y. Johnson on court seven, but couldn't come up with the win as he fell 6-1, 6-4.
Finzelberg played in the singles match of the day as he battled Lammons on court four. The redshirt-sophomore won the second set after losing the first, but lost the final set by tiebreak, 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-7(5).
Oklahoma State will begin play tomorrow at 11 a.m. C.T. against the University of San Francisco. Finzelberg will look to bounce back against USF's Nils Skajaa and Mendoza will look to continue his singles winning streak against Vasco Valverde.
