Sophomore Golf Duo Confident Heading Into Opening Tourney

STILLWATER – With the golf season teeing off next week in New Mexico, sophomore duo Maddie McCrary and Kenzie Neisen couldn't be more confident.
McCrary earned All-Big 12 honors as a freshman, and followed that up with a win at the Texas Open and a round of 16 finish at the U.S. Amateur in Portland, Ore.
Neisen followed up her Big 12 individual title by becoming the first player to ever win the Minnesota State Open and the Minnesota State Amateur in the same season. She also advance to the round of 32 at the U.S. Am.

The first field of the season includes the nation's No. 1 team, Stanford, as well as eight other teams that rank among the nation's top 30 in the Golfweek preseason poll. The Cowgirls check in at No. 9 heading into Monday's tournament in Albuquerque.
The Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational is being played at the University of New Mexico's University Course, a 6,315 yard par 73.
