Cowboys Win On Day One Of Silverado Invitational

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowboys Lukas Finzelberg, Tristan Meraut and Jurence Mendoza got their first singles wins of the fall season on Friday at the Silverado Invitational in Napa, California.
Finzelberg started the winning trend for the Cowboys with a commanding win over Miguel Diaz of the University of Pacific, 6-2, 6-3. Soon after, Mendoza and Meraut defeated both of their opponents, 6-4, 6-3, respectively. The only singles loss for Oklahoma State came on court seven as junior Nathan Roper fell to Tiger Kumara Pardha Adavelly, 6-4, 6-4.
Mendoza and Finzelberg took on Tigers Sem Verbeek and Diaz in the doubles portion of the match. The duo fought, but camp up short, 8-4. Roper and Meraut faced Pacific's Daniel Alameh and Adavelly on court five and also lost, 8-4.
The Cowboys will look to bounce back in doubles as Meraut and Roper face SMU's Arkadijs Slobodkins and Nate Lammons tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. CT. Finzelberg and Mendoza will face off against twins Hunter and Yates Johnson.
Oklahoma State will also compete in singles with Finzelberg taking on Lammons, Meraut facing Slobodkins, Mendoza battling H. Johnson and Roper going head-to-head with Y. Johnson.
