Cowgirl Golfer Johansson Joining Hedwall At European Tour Event

HELSINGBORG, Sweden – Oklahoma State golfer Linnea Johansson earned a sponsor's exemption to play in this weekend's Ladies European Tour event, the Helsingborg Open, where she will join former Cowgirl Caroline Hedwall in the star-studded field.
Just a short 40-minute drive from Johansson's hometown of Bastad, Sweden, the Helsingborg Open will be the junior's first appearance in a Ladies European Tour event.
Johansson was an All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 selection with an overall stroke average of 74.33 as a sophomore last year, and she continued that stellar play in Europe over the summer.
In July, Johansson carded rounds of 70-73 to help Sweden finish fifth at the European Team Championships in Denmark. She also nearly qualified for the British Open, missing the field by two strokes.
On Thursday, she will join Hedwall, a former NCAA champion at OSU and two-time Solheim Cup winner, at the Vasatorp Golf Club in Sweden. In 2013, Hedwall became the first in Solheim Cup history to win five matches in a single competition.
