Cowboy Bio Blast: Chris Olivier
August 04, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State head coach Travis Ford knew he was getting a veteran forward when he signed Eastern Illinois graduate Chris Olivier. What he needed to know was if Olivier was willing to put in the extra work to become a contributor in the nation's best basketball league – the Big 12.
If the summer session was any indication, Ford's questions have been answered. Olivier dropped 20 pounds and shaved a full minute off his mile time in just two months in Stillwater. What's more, Olivier emerged as one of OSU's top prospects on the low block.
Take a look at Olivier's resume from his last two seasons at Eastern Illinois.
• Averaged 13.0 points on 54.2 percent shooting, to go with 5.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season.
• Led the Panthers with 15.9 points per game in Ohio Valley Conference play in 2014-15.
• Finished the 2014-15 season ranked 13th in the OVC in scoring, 16th in rebounding, fifth in blocks and seventh in field goal percentage.
• For his career, Olivier is a 52.6 percent shooter at EIU (233-of-443) with 31 double-digit scoring games.
• Led EIU in blocks in each of his two seasons.
• Posted 71 career blocks for EIU, which is tied for fifth in program history.
• Tied the school record for single-game blocks with six against UT Martin on Feb. 19, 2015.
• OVC Player of the Week on Jan. 5 after helping the Panthers to a 2-0 start in league play with wins over Tennessee Tech (22 points, 6 rebounds) and Jacksonville State (20 points, 10 rebounds).
• Racked up five 20-point games in his junior season, including a career-high 25-point game against UT Martin.
• Owns four career double-doubles, including three in 2014-15.
• As a sophomore, Olivier averaged 11.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 20 games for the Panthers.
• Earned his Bachelor's degree in Organizational Professional Development.
