Six Cowboys Seeing NBA Summer League Action
July 09, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Six former Oklahoma State standouts will take the court this July in the NBA Summer League.
Marcus Smart and Markel Brown helped lead the Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets to the playoffs last year, and both have posted great performances this summer. Smart earned a night off after pouring in 26 points and eight assists in his opener on July 6, while Brown scored seven and 12 points in his last two outings for the Nets.
Le'Bryan Nash, the fourth leading scorer in OSU history, will suit up for the Houston Rockets, and 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year James Anderson will begin his NBA comeback with the Sacramento Kings Summer League team. Both Nash and Anderson get started Friday in Las Vegas.
Michael Cobbins earned a spot on the Oklahoma City summer roster, and has one appearance in three games for the Thunder. OSU grad Darrell Williams will also suit up for the Chicago Bulls.
The Cowboys have a proud history of sending players to the NBA. Thirty seven OSU players have been drafted, including eight first-round picks since 1992.
Four-time NBA All-Defensive team selection Tony Allen and seven-year NBA veteran John Lucas III earned the summer off from their respective NBA clubs.
