NBA Summer League Wraps Up For Former Cowboys
July 20, 2015 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – The NBA Summer League campaign for five former Oklahoma State Cowboys wrapped up over the weekend. Here's a snapshot of how each of them fared.
Marcus Smart – Boston Celtics
Smart finished his rookie season with a playoff berth, and picked up right where he left off in the summer league. The former OSU All-American opened the summer with games of 26, 22 and 19 points before the Boston brass scaled back his minutes to allow others on the court.
Â
Markel Brown - Brookly Nets
Brown did the opposite of his former teammate, Marcus Smart, and got better as the summer action progressed. The second-year guard opened with three and seven-point games, but finished with seven straight double-digit scoring games - including a 23-point outing against the 76ers.Â
Â
James Anderson - Sacramento Kings
Anderson, who signed with the Kings in June after a season overseas, showed he's still got what it takes to excell in the NBA. Anderson led the Kings with 12.3 points per game, including a 17-point game against the World Champion Golden State Warriors.
Â
Michael Cobbins - Oklahoma City Thunder
Cobbins hauled in 587 boards and blocked 164 shots in his OSU career, and showed the Thunder his potential to do just that at the professional level despite limited action. The rookie tallied four rebounds each in his final two games, and blocked a pair of shots against the Clippers.
Â
Darrell Williams - Chicago Bulls
The OSU grad picked up more and more playing time as the summer progressed, and rewarded the Bulls with six and nine point games. Williams played 28 minutes in the summer league finale, and was just one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.
