Four Cowgirls Earn Big 12 Honors

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State women's tennis sophomore Viktoriya Lushkova was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. Cowgirls Katarina Adamovic, Vladica Babic and Kelsey Laurente were recognized by the conference as well.
Lushkova shares the honor with Baylor's Ema Burgic. Earning another annual award was Cowgirl Kelsey Laurente, who was also named the Big 12's Newcomer of the Year.
Sophomore All-American Lushkova becomes the second Cowgirl in program history to be named Big 12 Player of the Year. The first was Marla Phillips in 2001. So far, Lushkova has compiled a 25-7 singles record this season with a 5-1 mark in conference competition.
In addition to her Player of the Year honor, Lushkova earned a spot on the All-Big 12 singles and doubles team for the second year in a row. Joining Lushkova on the All-Big 12 singles team is Katarina Adamovic, a sophomore from Serbia.
Adamovic put together a 25-9 overall record and a 5-2 record in Big 12 play, competing at the No. 2 and 3 spots for the Cowgirls.
Two Cowgirl duos were named to the All-Big 12 doubles team. Lushkova and Laurente went 22-8 as a pair and Adamovic and Vladica Babic have compiled a 25-7 record, with seven wins coming in conference competition.
The Cowgirls will be back in action this weekend as they host their first NCAA regional in Stillwater. The Cowgirls will play Boston U. on Saturday at 1 p.m.
