Cowboy Tennis Bows Out of Big 12 Tournament

WACO, Texas -- Oklahoma State's men's tennis team fell to No. 3 seed TCU, 4-0, in the quarterfinal of the Big 12 Championships on Friday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
"We are disappointed today," coach Jay Udwadia said. "Give some credit to TCU. They have a very good team. They showed up early on in the singles, and we made a little comeback at the end that fell short. Now we've just got to see Tuesday, with the dance, where we go. Obviously we are not hosting but we are still going to do the same things we do in practice and get ready for it like we always do. We will bounce back and we will be ready."
Because of the threat of rain, singles competition was played first.
The Horned Frogs came out strong, winning quick sets on courts six, three and four, respectively.
Cowboy senior Nicolai Ferrigno fell to Will Stein at the No. 6-spot, 6-0, 6-1. On court three, No. 119 Arjun Kadhe dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match to No. 40 Cameron Norrie, and TCU added to the score with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court four over Tristan Meraut.
With TCU leading the match 3-0, there was a rain delay called that lasted 55 minutes.
After the delay, the Cowboys refused to back down, winning crucial points on the remaining courts to stay in the match.
Lucas Gerch was on the verge of winning the second set on court two, while Jakob Sude was hot on No. 53 Nick Chappell's heels; however on court five, Arnau Dachs pulled ahead of Lukas Finzelberg to earn the final point and the win for the Horned Frogs.
On Tuesday, the NCAA will announce where the Cowboys will travel to for the NCAA team regional.
