Cowboy Tennis Earns Second-Straight NCAA Bid
April 28, 2015 | Cowboy Tennis
STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State's men's tennis team has been selected to compete in the 2015 NCAA Championships. The Cowboys will head to College Station, Texas the weekend of May 8-10.
This is the Cowboys' 19th overall appearance and their first back-to-back appearance since the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
OSU (16-9) is set to take on New Mexico in the first round on May 8. A win would pit the Pokes against the winner of the No. 6 Texas A&M and Eastern Kentucky match in a second-round showdown on May 9.
"[The draw] is great for us," coach Jay Udwadia said. "It's not too far away, and we haven't played the Lobos this year. I know every team in the draw is going to be good, so we have to respect everyone. All focus is going to be on the Lobos first."
The Cowboys and the Lobos will meet up for the first time since 1990, when OSU took a 5-1 win.
New Mexico is 20-10 on the season and earned the Mountain West regular season title. This will be the Lobos' first NCAA appearance since 2009.
