Cowboy Tennis Duo Bested in NCAA Quarterfinals
May 23, 2015 | Cowboy Tennis
WACO, Texas -- Oklahoma State's Jakob Sude and Arjun Kadhe wrapped up their 2015 season in the NCAA doubles championship quarterfinals, as the history-making duo fell to 19th-ranked Lloyd Glasspool and Soren Hess-Olesen of Texas, 6-4, 6-2, on Saturday.
After several of the matches were delayed due to rain, the Cowboys met the Longhorns at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center, looking for their second-consecutive trip to the NCAA semifinals. The Pokes battled closely with Texas but fell in a tough first set, 6-4. The Longhorns capitalized on that momentum, taking the second set, 6-2.
"Texas played well today and didn't give any free points," coach Jay Udwadia said. "Jakob finished his college career playing solid this week. Arjun elevated his level of play toward the end of the season, and I'm confident he will be back stronger than ever next year."
The two wrap up their time as a team, compiling a career 26-14 record. In their first season together, the duo put up an incredible run, going 11-2 on the year and earning their way to the NCAA doubles championship semifinals. This year saw the Cowboys to nine victories over ranked opponents, including a thrilling tiebreaker win over then-No. 2 Libietis and Reese of Tennessee and a dominant 6-3 victory against in-state rival and eighth-ranked Alvarez/Webb team of OU. To start the tennis year, Sude and Kadhe were tabbed as the No. 3 doubles in the nation, making them the highest ranked duo in Cowboy history.
After defeating Auburn's Marko Krickovic and Lukas Ollert in yesterday's round of 16, Sude and Kadhe became the first doubles team in Oklahoma State history to earn two career All-America honors.
