Win Over Egypt Clinches Group For USA Basketball, Evans

Future Cowboy Now Ranks 20th In Assists Among All Players At FIBA World Championships
GREECE – Future Cowboy Jawun Evans and USA Basketball cruised to a 92-50 win over Egypt on Tuesday, which clenched the top spot in Group A at the FIBA U19 World Championships.
Evans was 2-of-2 from the floor for four points, including a mid-court steal that led to an easy layup for the OSU signee. He also tallied three assists and posted a plus/minus of +14 in just under 18 minutes of action. For the tournament, Evans ranks 20th among all players with 3.3 assists per game, and his 1.3 steals per game is tied for 40th.
On Wednesday, the USA (3-0) will enter the first round of knockout play, where they will face Argentina (0-3). After a rest day on Thursday, the tournament picks up Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals, respectively.
The USA is hoping to win back-to-back FIBA World Championships for the first time since winning gold in 1979 and 1983. Cowboy Matt Clark was a member of that 1979 squad, while Marcus Smart won gold with the 2013 team.
