LA JOLLA, Calif. - No. 37 Oklahoma State men's tennis team earned a 5-0 decision over Villanova on Sunday and improved to 10-3 on the season.
With no doubles competition played, the teams went right into singles play, where the Cowboys won in straight sets on each of the five contested courts.
Leonard Gerch made his fourth start for the Pokes, playing at the No. 6-spot. He faced Matt Phelps, who he shut out quickly, 6-0, 6-0, to give OSU a 1-0 lead.
The Cowboys never looked back as Lukas Finzelberg, a redshirt freshman, produced a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tim Abbracciamento on court four.
No. 113 Arjun Kadhe played at the top spot, taking on Mark Miller. Kadhe blanked his opponent in the first set, 6-0, before closing out his match with a 6-3 second set victory.
Senior and 92nd-ranked Jakob Sude sealed the win for the Cowboys, defeating Chris Seitz, 6-4, 6-1, on court two.
In the final match of the day, Jurence Mendoza notched the fifth win for the team, taking out Brad Noyes on court three, 6-3, 6-4.
There was no result on court six.
The Cowboys return to action next weekend as they host No. 47 Memphis and No. 43 Pepperdine at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
