Brittney Martin Earns All-Region Honors

ATLANTA - Oklahoma State's Brittney Martin was one of 52 players named as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Region selection it was announced today.
Martin's selection marks the third consecutive year the Cowgirls have been represented on the Region 5 squad. Toni Young was chosen in 2013, while Tiffany Bias earned the honor last season.
Martin, who led OSU to its third consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, finished her junior campaign ranked among the Big 12's leaders in several statistical categories. The Syracuse, Utah native ranked seventh in scoring at 13.4 points per game, second in rebounding at 8.8 boards per contest and second with her 2.6 steals per game. Martin also ranked 11th among league players with her 1.0 blocked shots per game and third in minutes played at 35.0 per outing.
A unanimous first-team All-Big 12 pick, she was also named the Big 12 Player of the Week on two occasions and was named to the league's all-defensive squad.
The selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The selection committee will select the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team from these 52 candidates.
The 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. ET Saturday April 4, during NCAA® Women's Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in Amalie Arena.
