STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State softball team saw its fair share of highs and lows last weekend, as the Cowgirls swept a doubleheader against IPFW, but were defeated in back-to-back matchups against North Texas.
With a 2-2 mark on the weekend, the Cowgirls moved to 5-11 overall, but witnessed several team and individual standout performances over the course of the four-game set.
Team Highs
- Set new season-high with 16 total bases against IPFW
- Set new season-high with three sacrifice hits against North Texas
- Tied season-high with two HR against North Texas
- Tied season-high with 8 RBIs against IPFW
Individual Notes
Miranda Cavin
C | So. | Elk Grove, Ill.
- Posted her first hit of the season against IPFW, a second-inning single up the middle.
Mallory Collins
OF | Fr. | Sand Springs, Okla.
- Had the first two multi-hit games of her career, one against IPFW (two-RBI single, infield single) and one against North Texas (infield single, single to left).
Shelby Davis
OF | Sr. | Goddard, Kan.
- Registered her second three-hit performance of the year against North Texas, tallying three infield singles. Her other three-hit effort this season came against Evansville.
Jessi Haffner
1B/RHP | Fr. | Wichita, Kan.
- Made the first pitching appearance of her collegiate career, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings against North Texas. Also had two strikeouts, and only allowed one hit.
Shianne Hughes
OF | Jr. | Midwest City, Okla.
- Recorded a new season-high in hits (3), stolen bases (3) and runs scored (2) against IPFW.
Meagan Lively
RHP | Soph. | Monroe, La.
- Posted her second shutout of the season against IPFW, throwing six scoreless innings while only allowing two hits.
Tiffany Mikkelson
3B | Jr. | Aliso Viejo, Calif.
- Had the first multi-HR game of her career against UNT, with solo shots in the second and fourth Innings. She tallied her second and third three-hit games of the season, pushing her batting average on the season to .320. Also had a season-high in runs scored (3) and total bases (9) against North Texas.
Brandi Needham
RHP | Soph. | Dripping Springs, Texas
- Matched a season-high in strikeouts (4) in her win over IPFW.
Vanessa Shippy
IF | Fr. | Couer d'Alene, Idaho
- Four runs scored against IPFW was a new team and career high. Also posted a new career-high in total bases (7) against IPFW, with her second HR of the season and the first triple of her career.
