OSU Head Coach Jim Littell
Opening Statement
"This is a tough loss for our basketball program. I felt like we had a chance to solidify third in the Big 12 and we didn't get it done. Our margin for error is not very high and it's very important that we have everybody play well. There's not one of these kids who didn't come into the game with the intent of playing hard, competing and playing well. I'll give Oklahoma credit, but I thought we played horrible. We have to play better. We had too many possessions where we had, what I felt were good shots. It seemed like the first-half we shot air-balls on 10 to 12 foot shots and you can't do that and beat a good team and Oklahoma has a very good team. Every time we would cut it to four or six we would come down and take two or three bad shots and turn it over. Those things aren't conducive to beating a good ball club like Oklahoma. I thought that Kaylon Williams played very well for them and was the difference in the ballgame. She was very solid, under control at the post position and that was the difference in the game. Also, our free-throws, you're not going to win when you don't convert at the free-throw line. Rebounding was fine, 20 offensive boards, 32 defensive and 52 overall. I thought we did a nice job on the boards, but you're not going to win many basketball games when you shoot 25 percent and don't shoot very well at the free-throw line either."
On Liz Donohoe
"I thought Liz Donohoe was outstanding tonight. I know this game was very important for her and Bedlam is very important to her. I thought she played one of her better games of the year. I am very proud of what she accomplished tonight. I'm very proud of what she accomplished in her career here. If you look at her numbers she's going to finish with more than 1,600 career points, more than 800 rebounds and start every game in her career. She's had an outstanding career here and it isn't over."
On postseason
"We start a new season. There's three seasons, we just told our players, there's non-conference, conference and tournament season. We start a new season when we come back to practice on Wednesday. You have to turn the page and go on and find a way to play well in Dallas. I think we're very capable and we'll regroup and go from there."
On shot selection in the first half
"We've shot poorly, but we've never shot that many airballs. I thought, for the most part, they were pretty good shots. I don't know if the kids were amped up for the game. If you look they were probably were too. It's 20-19 and they are very explosive offensively. You have two teams that wanted to do well and came out and didn't shoot it very well. They regroup and played better in the second half and obviously made more shots. I can't put a finger on it. I thought some shots were a little bit rushed, but I thought they were more rushed on our part than them forcing the rushed shot. We didn't play with a real good tempo tonight with our game offensively."
Liz Donohoe
On the emotions of Senior Night
"It's really cool. It's awesome what our team has been able to accomplish over more four years. I'm pretty proud of that. We started out winning the NIT and improved from there. It's been a special ride here with the Cowgirls. I'm very blessed."
On finding confidence going into the Big 12 Tournament
"We started off this conference season pretty bad and we improved in the second half. We can look at that and take that into the Big 12 Tournament and hopefully into the NCAA Tournament as well."
On separating the emotions on Senior Night
"I try not to think about it, until after the game. I didn't think I was too emotional during the ceremony. I shook right in it pretty well. I was focused and ready to go."
On the difference between her play in Norman and tonight
"Mindset. I think going into the first Bedlam game I was pretty nervous. I shouldn't have been and I played poorly that game and it was embarrassing and I didn't want to go out like that on senior night at home. We needed this win that's what I was focused on. Not that it was senior night and not that it was my last game here. We really did need this win."
OU Head Coach Sherri Coale
Opening Statement
"I thought, in the first half, Mr. Iba was watching and he was so disappointed. Then I thought he really liked defense, so maybe he was super excited about what was occurring. I didn't think either team was going to be able to put the ball in the basket. Fortunately the second half was better basketball and we got a few more shots to go in than they did. It wasn't a very pretty 40 minutes from either of us."
On her halftime message to her team
"We practiced triple threat. All of us. We got up and practiced triple threat. We practiced breathing. I thought the first half, offensively, everybody was playing like they just had three Red Bulls before they went out on the floor. We were wound up and then we calmed down a little bit in the second half. We fed the beast and that was pretty effective. We got a couple of offensive rebounds and I thought that was key."
On Kaylon Williams
"She's been a steadily moving mountain climber here. Every game she's a little more sure of herself and more disciplined. Even though she ended up with four fouls, she stayed in the game for 40 minutes. She was poised even when she missed a couple of shots early. Last month that wouldn't have been the case. She wouldn't have called for the ball as aggressively or made herself as available as she did. She wanted the ball and wanted to be the difference tonight. It was fantastic."
On Liz Donohoe's performance
"We knew that her performance in Norman was not typical. I think Jim (Littell) has done a really nice job of putting those guys in a position to be successful as who they are now with their identity. It was Senior Night for Liz, you know she's going to make every open shot you give her, so you can't give her any. We worked really hard to limit her touches, but she was really good tonight."
Kaylon Williams
On Oklahoma's second half
"I think that in the first half we needed to play inside and out. That was a goal for us. My teammates were telling me which positions they could get me the ball at, so I just kind of listened to them throughout the second half."
On her offensive game plan
"I'm at the point in my career, like coach said, where I have to grow up. I'm at the end of my growing stage so I've got to take responsibility and be a presence in the post. That was the biggest thing in the second half that I decided to do."
Peyton Little
On her shooting performance
"It always a relief when you can get a couple threes to go down. We're just going to keep shooting it. That's what we do, so not being able to shoot it well is not going to stop us from shooting it.
