STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State softball team swept a three-game set with Arkansas-Pine Bluff last weekend, outscoring the Golden Lions, 29-3, behind an explosive offensive attack and dominant performances in the circle.
Since falling to 5-11 on Feb. 28, the Cowgirls have inched their way back near .500, pulling to within one game of the even mark with Sunday's series sweep. At 12-13, Oklahoma State will have to chance to take a winning record into this weekend's trip to Utah, where the Cowgirls will take on Utah Valley and BYU.

- Set new season-high with three sacrifice flies (Davis, Shippy, DeLaCruz) in game one.
- Set new season-high for strikeouts (10) in game one.
Individual Notes
Shelby Davis
OF | Sr. | Goddard, Kan.
- Recorded her 11th and 12th multi-hit games of the year, posting two in Saturday's opener and two in Sunday's season finale. Upon conclusion of the weekend, Davis' season average stands at .465, a mark that ranks fifth in the Big 12 and 51st nationally.
- Added four stolen bases over the course of the weekend, bringing her season total to 26, the second-highest mark in the country. Her 1.24 stolen bases per game leads the nation, and provides a vital contribution to the Cowgirls' team average of three swiped bags per game, which ranks fourth in NCAA competition.
- Davis also recorded her fourth sacrifice fly of the season, which puts her at No. 6, nationally, and No. 1 in the Big 12.
Tiffany Mikkelson
3B | Jr. | Aliso Viejo, Calif.
- With hits in each of last weekends' games, Mikkelson pushed her active hitting streak to nine games. After holding a .192 season average on Feb. 20, that streak has helped Mikkelson increase her mark at the plate to .395, which ranks second on the team.
- Mikkelson's power seems to have returned as well, as she has hit four home runs in the last five games, including one in each of the final two games against UAPB. Her season mark increased to seven, which ranks fourth in the Big 12.
- Her RBI total was pushed to 28, giving her an average of 1.12 runs batted in per contest. That mark ranks fourth in the conference, and 68th on the national scale.
Jessi Haffner
1B/RHP | Fr. | Wichita, Kan.
- Since making her pitching debut on Feb. 28, Haffner has been a force in the circle, posting a 3-0 record and a 2.13 ERA. After earning the starting nod on Sunday, she delivered one of the most dominant performances of the Cowgirls' season with four shutout innings of no-hit ball. In the end, Haffner combined with teammate Peyton Walker to throw a combined-no hitter.
Shianne Hughes
OF | Jr. | Midwest City, Okla.
- Matched a season game-high with three hits in the series opener, recording two infield singles and a bunt-base against the Golden Lions. With seven hits over the three-game set, Hughes increased her season average to .343.
Brandi Needham
RHP | Soph. | Dripping Springs, Texas
- Set a new season-high and tied a career-high with ten strikeouts in the Cowgirls' 8-0 win in the series opener. Needham's K counter stood at seven through the first three innings, and would eventually help her to her team-leading sixth victory of the season.
Vanessa Shippy
IF | Fr. | Couer d'Alene, Idaho
- With doubles in the first and third games of the series, Shippy increased her season total to eight. Her average of .32 doubles per game ranks third in the conference. She has also compiled a five-game hitting streak, posting at least one base-hit in each game since March 7.
Peyton Walker
RHP/UTL | So. | Hammon, Okla.
- Made her season debut in Sunday's win, coming on in relief for Haffner. Walker pitched a perfect fifth inning, striking out two and forcing the final out of the game with a ground out to second. She combined with Haffner to throw a combined no-hitter.
Gessenia DeLaCruz
SS | Sr. | Houston, Texas
- Launched her first home run of the season in Saturday's nightcap, helping her record her first multi-hit game of the season. DeLaCruz started in all three games against the Golden Lions, finishing the weekdn with three hits, three runs scored and three RBIs.
