Last Time Out
The Oklahoma State track and field program wrapped up competition at the 2015 Big 12 Indoor Championships Feb. 28, with the women's team claiming its highest finish in Big 12 history and three athletes winning individual championships.
The Cowgirls, who finished fourth in the team standings with 77 points, scored in all six events they competed in Saturday and picked up titles from Kaela Edwards' record-breaking performance in the 1,000 meters and Clara Nichols in the 800 meters.
The men's team finished in third place with 94 points and added a title from Chad Noelle in the mile. In total, the OSU track and field program took home seven titles.
Nick Miller, a five-time All-American, won his third straight weight throw title with a mark of 22.04m/72-3.75. It was his sixth overall Big 12 title and the seventh time he has scored at a Big 12 meet.
The men's distance medley relay team set a Big 12 championship record en route to winning the conference championship. Vegard Oelstad, Brandon Singleton, Matthew Fayers and Chad Noelle collectively ran a 9:37.31 to win the Big 12 title and break the meet record by more than three seconds.
Noelle finished the mile in 4:08.46 to claim his third career Big 12 title. He also ran the 3,000-meter run just hours after his championship mile performance and finished sixth.
Jennifer Celis, Stephanie Ferrante, Clara Nichols and Kaela Edwards also claimed a Big 12 DMR title, running the event in 11:16.86.
Edwards also won her second title of the meet, breaking a 24-year old Big 12 record with a time of 2:43.11 in the women's 1,000 meters. That time also set a new school record and a Lied Recreation Center record. Caileigh Glenn and Abbie Hetherington joined Edwards in the race and finished third and fourth, respectively. Glenn's 2:48.53 and Hetherington's 2:49.19 were both personal bests.
Clara Nichols ran a 2:06.95 in the 800 meters and claimed the Cowgirls' third title of the meet.
Fabian Clarkson won the 5,000-meter run Friday in 14:31.13, and finished as the runner-up in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:04.46.
A Look Back
The OSU men's track and field team finished sixth and the women's team placed 15th at the 2014 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Oklahoma State's Kirubel Erassa finished second in the men's 3,000 meters, and Cowgirls Savannah Camacho and Kaela Edwards took second and third in the women's 800 meters, last year.
Nick Miller threw a massive 23.07m/75-8.25 personal best to take second place in the weight throw.
It was Millers' second consecutive year as an All-American in the weight throw.
The finish for the women's team was its highest ever, and the men's finish was the highest since it finished second in 1965.

Cowboys No. 13 Going Into NCAA Championships
After a third place finish at the 2015 Big 12 Indoor Championships, the Oklahoma State men's track and field team held onto its top-15 spot for the fourth straight week in the most recent USTFCCCA rankings release.
Moving to No. 13, the Cowboys are the third highest-ranked track and field team in the Big 12 behind Texas and Texas Tech teams that finished one and two at this year's Big 12 Championships, respectively.
The Cowboys won four events at the 2015 Big 12 Championships in Ames, Iowa, including the distance medley relay, 5,000-meter run, mile run and weight throw. Those four titles tie the 2014 team for the most in school history at a conference indoor meet for the Cowboys.
The Cowgirls are sitting at 49th despite winning three Big 12 Indoor titles themselves in the distance medley relay, 1,000-and 800-meter runs. The team's 77 points were the most scored at a Big 12 meet in school history.
The last meet of the indoor season will be the NCAA Indoor Championships inside the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark., March 13-14.
The Fastest Man in The Country
On Feb. 13, Cowboy sprinter John Teeters provided yet another dazzling display in the 60 meter dash, as the sophomore ran a 6.52 at the Tyson Invitational, breaking his own school record. Teeters now has sole possession of the best time in the NCAA this season.
1. John Teeters Oklahoma State 6.52 2/14/15
2. Trayvon Bromell Baylor 6.54 1/23/15
3. Jalen Miller Mississippi 6.55 1/30/15
4. Kendal Williams Florida State 6.56 2/26/15
5. Tevin Hester Clemson 6.57 2/26/15
5. Ronnie Baker TCU 6.58cA 1/31/15
To put Teeters' time in perspective, in last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, Florida State's Dentarius Locke ran 6.52 to win the 60 meter final. Teeters' performance is tied for ninth on the all-time NCAA list.
